Why Buy a Category B+ Driving License?
If you need to drive a car and trailer that weighs over 26,000 pounds, you'll need a class B license. The process of adding an endorsement to your existing CDL class is usually a matter of taking another knowledge test and skills test.
The passing of a test in category C1+E will upgrade your licence to include full B+E entitlement. (Subject to the weight limit of your B licence.) This is only applicable to UK drivers.
Passenger Endorsements
If you want to operate a single vehicle that seats 16 or more (including the driver) for the transport of passengers, this endorsement is required. You must pass the P written test and the road skills test pertaining to passengers to obtain this CDL endorsement. School bus drivers need a separate CDL endorsement and go through a federal background investigation.

The Class B with a Passenger Endorsement permits you to operate vehicles with a GVWR of at least 26,001 pounds when the towing vehicle does not exceed 10,000 pounds. School, tour, and city buses are the most common type of vehicle. This type of CDL is used primarily by professional bus drivers.
Drivers who are part of a business whose primary business does not transport people or property such as plumbers, meter readers, and Realtors, do not need this CDL endorsement. Employers may require this endorsement in order to comply with safety or insurance requirements. The Regular (Class) Driver License with the Passenger (F) Endorsement can be added to your Commercial Driver's License, if you are a taxi driver or shuttle bus driver, courier or ambulance driver. Any CDL Classification can have a For-Hire endorsement added. The endorsement code is located on the front of the license and is located under the date of expiration, just below the letter "E".
Endorsements for Hazardous Materials
When you get an endorsement for hazardous materials it shows employers that you're able to carry certain kinds of freight. This special certification can improve your job prospects and allow you to land higher-paying driving jobs, particularly in the trucking business. This certification requires a higher level of safety-consciousness, which is above the normal guidelines of driving. It also involves handling emergencies, directing passengers on the road, and directing evacuation procedures.
To get an HAZMAT (hazardous materials) endorsement, you will need to pass a written knowledge test and undergo a rigorous background check by the Transportation Security Administration. These materials are corrosive toxic or explosive, and only certified individuals are allowed to handle these items. This endorsement is required for truck drivers who transport chemicals and liquid gas as well as construction site workers who transport materials to the site of work.
You may require a CDL endorsement P (passenger) for if you operate vehicles that transport passengers, such as city buses and tour buses. School bus drivers require an additional S (school bus) endorsement to operate these vehicles. You can also add the tanker or N (tank vehicles) CDL endorsement to you driving license to transport gases and liquids like oil, gas dairy, beverages, waste management or agriculture. Certain companies, like Schneider offers HazMat (X) and tanker (H) endorsements, which permit you to transport both types without needing a separate endorsement.
Whether or not you need additional endorsements to operate certain commercial vehicles is contingent on the specific requirements of the company you're applying to work for. It is important to do your research about the endorsements your prospective employer prefers or requires. This will allow you to make the most of your time and money in a responsible way. This will provide you with an idea of what qualifications to obtain prior to beginning your journey to become a driver and reduce the risk of spending money on unnecessary endorsements. The good news is that many companies pay their drivers the cost of getting necessary CDL endorsements, so this is one way to get started on your driving career with little investment.
Combination Endorsements
The right endorsements allow drivers to drive vehicles they otherwise would not be able. This enables them to broaden their options and present themselves as the most professional resource in the job market. Schneider suggests that drivers speak to professionals in the field and career counselors to better know which endorsements could be the most beneficial for their desired career paths.
The T combination endorsement permits, for instance, CDL Class B and A license holders to drive multiple trailers, which includes double and triple ones. This requires advanced driving and an understanding of how the trailers move with respect to each and each other. They are at a greater risk of chance of being jackknifed or turning compared to single-trailer truck. In the same way the X endorsement grants Class A and B CDL holders the ability to transport HazMat cargo through tanker trucks.
Trailer Endorsements
Drivers who transport passengers for a living have to be able to have their Regular (Class D) driver license enhanced with the For-Hire (F) endorsement. Highly recommended Webpage and shuttle service operators couriers delivery services (flowers or pizza) and ambulance drivers are all examples of drivers who require this endorsement. Certain employees who work on commissions or for their own companies and do not transport persons or property in the course of their work (such as plumbers and meter readers Realtors) may also require the For-Hire endorsement.
The "T" endorsement allows CDL-holders to operate vehicles with triple and double trailers. Schneider does not reimburse drivers for obtaining this endorsement. The "X" endorsement permits Class A and B CDL holders to haul HazMat freight on tankers. This combination of endorsements may be referred to as a "combo", or an "all hazards" endorsement.
